Teresa Rivera attended ACTCM (American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine) in her hometown of San Francisco, and graduated in 2008 with a Masters in Traditional Chinese Medicine. She then passed the California Acupuncture State Boards in that same year. She did her internship at the Haight Ashbury Free Clinic with Pam Olton, Davies Stroke Clinic with Stanley Leung, Maxine Hall Health Center with Kenny Morris, The Women’s Health Clinic, and the ACTCM Ear Clinic.

Prior to her acupuncture studies, Teresa attended UCLA and NYU where she received her Bachelor’s of Science in Dance Education. She has always been interested in the body, how it moves, it’s different systems, and how it is affected through nutrition, exercise, aging, trauma and psychological, emotional and spiritual life events.

Her warmth, spirit, and innate curiosity about everyone she meets makes her the heart of our practice. Don’t be surprised if you are lucky to have her treat you at your next embryo transfer, as Teresa finds that holding space with patients during this time to be deeply gratifying.

In her spare time, Teresa enjoys taking classes on essential oils, and reading about stones and gems and integrating them into her acupuncture practice. She also takes pleasure in caring for her various orchids and plants, listening to music, attending dance concerts, watching mysteries with her husband, and getting together with friends and family

Sheila Shahmirza, born and raised in the Bay Area, California, had the benefit of experiencing Acupuncture from a young age and was drawn to this time tested medicine after finding relief for chronic migraines. Sara is a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist who specializes in women’s health, fertility and pregnancy support. From the start of her practice in 2006, her focus has been on reproductive medicine. Sara is guided by the principles of integrative medicine, often collaborating with doctors and other health care practitioners to maintain continuity of care.

Passionate about helping couples achieve their goal of becoming parents, it brings her great joy to be part of this personal and meaningful journey. The foundation of her nurturing and supportive approach is a commitment to keeping her patients informed so they can be active participants in achieving optimal health.

Sara was first introduced to acupuncture as a student at the UC Santa Cruz where she earned a Bachelors degree in psychology. After experiencing great success using Chinese medicine to treat her own health issues, she continued her graduate studies in Traditional Chinese Medicine so that she could share its benefits with others.

Sara completed a Masters of Science degree from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Francisco. She has also received advanced postgraduate training in the fields of gynecology, reproductive medicine, pregnancy and pediatric acupuncture.

While she is no longer associated with PFC, in 2007 Sara co-founded the Acupuncture Program at Pacific Fertility Center (PFC), a leading Assisted Reproductive Therapy Clinic in San Francisco. The focus of the Acupuncture program was to provide onsite treatments to women on the day of their embryo transfer and well as support them before and after their cycle. Sara continues to provide fertility acupuncture to patients that are undergoing assisted reproductive therapies at clinics in the San Francisco Bay area.

Sara has been a Fellow of the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine (FABORM) since 2009. ABORM certification demonstrates the highest competency and advanced knowledge in the field of both Western and Oriental Reproductive Medicine.

Sara lives in West Marin and keeps her own balance by spending time with her husband and their three kids, hiking, practicing yoga and enjoying travel whenever possible.

Zoë Brown, L.Ac is a licensed acupuncturist new to San Francisco from her home in Los Angeles.

After completing her B.A. in Medical Anthropology at Dartmouth College, she earned her Masters in Traditional Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture at Emperor’s College in Los Angeles. Zoë is also a certified Reiki practitioner and trained in Craniosacral therapy, and believes in a multi-modal, integrative approach to facilitate optimal healing.

Zoë first received acupuncture at age 9, a gift in the midst of an autoimmune diagnosis and conventional doctors that left her with more frustrations and questions than answers. Chinese medicine and acupuncture gave her a new map for what it might mean to feel well. It’s this paradigm shift she hopes to give to every patient: a sense of health autonomy and ease in the home you inhabit. Zoë believes that true wellness should give you the freedom to do and create what you love!

Like all of Nest’s team, Zoë is especially passionate about hormonal and reproductive health, and supporting women in fertility and pregnancy. Mollie is an East Coast transplant, born and raised in New Hampshire and living in California for the past 11 years. She completed her B.A. in Behavioral Neuroscience from the University of San Diego before moving up north to the Bay Area and graduated with a Master’s in Traditional East Asian Medicine from AIMC Berkeley. She has a deep love for acupuncture and Chinese medicine and is especially passionate about herbalism, reproductive health and pediatric care.
